Como director, parto de una narrativa muy esencial y del deseo de releer un cine que ya existe. Me guía más la intuición que la necesidad de contar historias. Me interesa difuminar la frontera entre los géneros y seguir preguntándome qué es el cine.

Como director de fotografía disfruto acompañando a directores y directoras desde el guion hasta la planificación, para que se reconozcan en las imágenes que filmamos, en su tono y en su tempo. Me he formado rodando las primeras películas de cineastas como Chema García Ibarra, Luis López Carrasco, Irati Gorostidi y Alberto Gracia, y sigo aprendiendo con los retos de cada nuevo proyecto.

En 2017 fundé con Leire Apellaniz la productora Apellaniz y de Sosa. Desde entonces defendemos juntos un cine de riesgo formal y ambición estética, un camino en común del que no puedo estar más orgulloso. <3

As a director, I start from a very essential narrative and a desire to revisit cinema that already exists. I am guided more by intuition than by a need to tell stories. I am interested in blurring the borders between genres and in continuing to ask what cinema is.

As a cinematographer, I enjoy accompanying directors from the script to the shot design, so that they recognise themselves in the images we shoot, in their tone and their tempo. I learned my craft shooting the first films of filmmakers such as Chema García Ibarra, Luis López Carrasco, Irati Gorostidi and Alberto Gracia, and I keep learning from the challenges each new project brings.

In 2017 I founded the production company Apellaniz y de Sosa with Leire Apellaniz. Since then we have stood up together for a cinema of formal risk and aesthetic ambition, a shared path I couldn’t be prouder of. <3
